“Dad, That Looks Cool!” How a Simple Park Jog Led My 10-Year-Old to Run for Papa Davie
Last week, my 10-year-old son Oscar and I started jogging together. While running through Eglinton Park, he spotted a big sign for the Colour Dash and shouted, “Dad, that looks cool!”
He then asked me what the Ayrshire Hospice was. I explained that they had cared for his Papa Davie, who sadly passed away before Oscar was born. Without hesitation, Oscar looked at me and said, “I’m doing that then.”
Just like that, our little father-and-son jogging mission turned into something much more meaningful. On 13th June we’ll both be taking part in the Ayrshire Hospice Colour Dash – running, getting covered in colour, and raising funds for a cause that’s now very personal to us.
