Milo & me are doing 5k waggy tail walk with the Ayrshire Dachshunds for the Ayrshire Hospice

As many of you know, my lovely mum passed away in January 2023. During her end-of-life care, she was supported not only by the district nurses but also by Ayrshire Hospice.

My mum was diagnosed with MSA, a rare and cruel terminal disease that slowly robbed her of walking, talking, swallowing, and every other basic function we take for granted. She became unable to do anything for herself. In the end, she made the difficult decision to have a driver put in to allow her to sleep—a sleep she would never wake from.

She fought this disease with incredible strength for so long, but it was a battle she could never win. The Ayrshire Hospice, alongside the district nurses, kept my mum comfortable during her final journey and made sure my sister and I were coping too.

I will be forever grateful for the dignity and care they provided our mum in her final days.
